FAQs

If you have some questions, you may find the answer here!

  • What kinds of tours do you run?

We guide small-group glacier hikes, ice- and rock-climbing days, and fully private versions of the same. Glacier trips start in south-west Iceland (Sólheimajökull) and last from three hours to a full day. Rock climbing trips are usually within 1 hour of Reykjavik.

  • Do I need any climbing or glacier experience?

No. Every tour is designed for first-timers as well as return visitors; the guide adjusts the route and technical difficulty based on the participants. This is a main advantage of small groups.

  • How safe is it?

Safety is non-negotiable and all decisions are taking with safety in mind. The guide is certified in Glacier and Mountain Guiding, Wilderness First Response, and holds an Adventure Guide Diploma. Ratio is max 1 guide : 6 clients.

  • What equipment do you supply?

Helmet, harness, crampons, rope, and ice-axe are included on glacier and ice days. You only bring waterproof outerwear, warm layers, sturdy boots, gloves, hat, snacks, and 20 L pack.

For the rock experiences we provide everything except climbing shoes, though you can contact us and we will try to find a solution.

  • What should I wear?

Dress in breathable layers, waterproof jacket and trousers, and ankle-high hiking boots stiff enough for crampons. Sunglasses are essential year-round; in winter add insulated gloves and a warm hat.

The most important for the glacier tours are stiff boots, ankle high. Otherwise, dress according to the conditions. We recommend always having waterproof layers as a back up. Sunglasses and gloves should always be accesible. As we say in Iceland, dress after the weather.

  • Are children welcome?

Yes, on most glacier walks and beginner climbing trips the minimum age is 12. Under-18s must be accompanied by a responsible adult. However we can accomodate even younger in private groups, contact us if you are interested in that.

  • What happens if the weather turns bad?

If conditions are unsafe we propose the tour to the next suitable day. When that’s impossible you receive a full refund—no credit-note games.

  • What is your cancellation policy?

Cancel ≥ 48 h before departure for a 100 % refund. Inside 48 h the payment is non-refundable unless we cancel for weather or safety. No-shows are not refunded.

  • Is transport included?

You can meet us on-location at the car-park or book Reykjavík pick-up during checkout for an extra fee.

  • How do I pay and confirm a spot?

Book online, pay in full at checkout, and wait for the confirmation email. A booking isn’t secured until that email arrives.

  • What makes you environmentally responsible?

All technical gear is Bluesign-approved when possible, and/or produced with solar energy. We operate electric vehicles for transport, and follow strict Leave-No-Trace practices. Fifteen percent of profit go to fund social programs.

  • Can I book a private tour?

Yes. Private glacier hikes and custom climbing days are available year-round. Ideal for families, schools, or film crews who need a flexible schedule.
